PSA – Be Kind to Others

This will be a bit of a random post but I feel the need to put out some reminders and positive energy into the universe given some current happenings.

Let me start by saying that I do not watch the news…I find it far too depressing to hear all the awful things going on in the world and I can’t handle it. I’ll look at some websites for big news but it’s a controlled setting where I can just see headline. I don’t have to see all the awful details of particular stories.

However, I do love reading celebrity news. I check TMZ and People daily and enjoy keeping up on my favorite (and not so favorite) celebrities. My mom has gotten People magazine as long as I can remember so I’ve always looked forward to reading them. I fully know that those stories aren’t always the full/true story but I still enjoy them.

I feel like when it comes to the Kardashians, people have strong feelings one way or the other. You either watch the show and are a fan or you can’t stand them. I consider myself a fan – I started watching the show a couple years ago and got sucked into the Kardashian world (I especially love Khloe and Scott – they are both HILARIOUS). I follow most of them on Instagram and Snapchat but I haven’t gone to the craze of buying their apps, makeup, clothes, etc.

So I Started a Blog

I finally took the plunge and started a blog! I’ve toyed around with the idea for quite some time and finally decided to get it going. I think most people can relate to getting caught up in the more boring standard parts of life – going to work, maintaining a house, grocery shopping, etc. and forget to make time to do things they enjoy. Here’s where the blog comes in…

When I first moved out of my parents house with my husband, we found the perfect starter home that allowed me to have a scrapbooking room/office. I was SO excited for all the possibilities of my very own room for all my crafting stuff. I painted it a perfect green (Dunn Edwards Lazy Caterpillar) because I read that green could help spark creativity. I went to Ikea and bought the perfect desk and lots of storage. I spent lots of time in my scrapbooking room and even hosted scrapbooking days where I’d set up huge tables for family and friends to come over and scrapbook for the day. Even though I was in school full time and working full time, I still managed to make time for scrapbooking and crafting because I loved it.

Fast forward a few years and we’ve moved into a new house. My “scrapbooking” room is now an office/workout room. We moved into this house over 4 years ago and slowly but surely, I’ve gotten rid of a huge amount of my scrapbooking supplies. I’ve kept things like my Cricut that could be used for other crafts so I’ve still got a full closet of supplies. But I rarely take them out to use.

My sister-in-law is getting married next month and I started planning her bridal shower a couple months ago. I could not contain my excitement for getting the opportunity to plan the most amazing shower. My best friend, my siblings, and I all got married before Pinterest and I totally think we should get a redo.

My sister-in-law is a huge Harry Potter fan so it only made sense to throw her the most epic Harry Potter bridal shower. I had so much fun searching for ideas and then making tons of HP stuff that I knew she would love. (More to come soon on all those details) The shower was yesterday and it was a HUGE success. My sister-in-law was so surprised with all the details and all the guests raved that it was the best bridal shower they’d ever been to. A few people said I missed my calling as a party planner and that was the best compliment I could have gotten.

So what the heck does this have to do with a blog? I don’t think I’ll be planning any more bridal showers in the near future so here’s my reason to create and share all the things I love. I hope this inspires me to spend more time focused on the things I love and make some new friends along the way!
